About Sectum Radiofrequency
Sectum is a non-invasive radiofrequency skin tightening treatment that gently heats the deeper layers of the skin to firm existing collagen and stimulate new collagen and elastin. Using temperature-controlled bipolar radiofrequency, it is used to improve loss of firmness, a softening jawline and jowls, crepey neck skin, facial changes after weight loss and loose skin on the body, including the stomach, arms and thighs.
Sectum at Aarva is planned by Dr Shivani Malhotra, a practising GP who leads our skin and regenerative medicine, and delivered in our practice on Midland Drive, Royal Sutton Coldfield. Loose skin can come from the skin itself, lost volume, fat or all three, and radiofrequency only answers the first, so a doctor works out which it is before anything is recommended. You leave your consultation with a written treatment plan with clear pricing.
“With loose skin, the honest question is what is actually causing it. When it is the skin itself, Sectum is gentle and steady, and patients like that there is nothing to recover from.”
Is Sectum Right for You?
Likely a good fit if you:
- have mild to moderate loose skin on the jawline, neck, stomach, arms or thighs
- want firmer skin with no needles and no time off
- are happy to build results over a short course
Probably not the right first step if you:
- have a lot of excess skin after major weight loss, where a surgical opinion may be the honest answer
- have a pacemaker or metal implants in the area, or are pregnant
- have more marked looseness under the chin, where AI Endolaser may do more
Not sure which side you are on? That is exactly what the consultation is for.
Our Promise to You
The standards every Aarva patient can expect, whatever they come in for.
- You see a doctor before any treatment is planned.
- You get a written treatment plan to take away, with clear pricing, so you can go ahead on the day or decide in your own time.
- We will tell you if Sectum will not help, even if that means no treatment at all.
- If something does not feel right afterwards, a doctor sees you.
- Your consultation is time with a doctor, set aside just for you.

From First Conversation to Follow-Up
Four simple steps, with the same doctor-led care from your first message to your follow-up.
Tell us what is bothering you
Request an appointment online or get in touch, and let us know which area you are thinking about.
See a doctor from the start
A GP examines the area and works out what is really causing the looseness. You leave with a written treatment plan with clear pricing.
Your treatment
A warm gel goes on and the handpiece moves over the skin for 30 to 45 minutes. It feels like a hot stone massage, and no numbing is needed.
We follow you up
Sessions are one to two weeks apart. We photograph the area as we go, so change is measured rather than guessed at.
Why a Doctor Plans Your Sectum Treatment
Sectum at Aarva is planned by Dr Shivani Malhotra, GP, who leads skin and regenerative medicine. Every treatment is planned and overseen by a doctor.
On the face and neck we use a small precision handpiece that works closely along the jawline, under the chin and around the eyes. On the body, a larger handpiece covers the stomach, arms, thighs and knees. The handpiece measures your skin temperature throughout and adjusts the energy to hold it where we have set it, which keeps treatment comfortable and consistent.
Sectum works well alongside Neauvia Hydro Deluxe for tired, dehydrated skin, UltraClear or LaserMe for texture, dermal fillers where volume has been lost, and AI Endolaser for more marked looseness along the jawline. Sectum is also used for intimate health, covered on our vaginal laxity page.
Why Patients Choose Aarva
Doctor-led from the first appointment
Every consultation is with a doctor, and every plan is written by a practising GP.
GPs still in practice
Our doctors, Dr Saptarshi Saha, Dr Purti Choudhary and Dr Shivani Malhotra, are GMC-registered GPs who still work in general practice.
One medical record
GP, skin and women’s health care sit on one record, so nothing gets lost between appointments.
It starts with a consultation
A doctor assesses you properly, explains your options and gives you a written treatment plan with clear pricing, so every step that follows is the right one.
Questions Patients Ask About Sectum Radiofrequency
Cannot see your question? Our doctors are happy to talk it through at your consultation.
Radiofrequency energy warms the deeper layers of the skin to a controlled temperature. That warmth tightens existing collagen fibres and prompts the skin to make new collagen and elastin over the following weeks. Sectum is bipolar, so the energy passes between two points in the handpiece rather than through the body.
On the face and neck: loss of firmness, a softening jawline, early jowls, crepey neck skin and thin skin around the eyes. On the body: loose skin on the stomach after pregnancy or weight loss, the upper arms, inner thighs and knees, and the dimpled look of cellulite.
It suits mild to moderate looseness in people who want firmer skin without needles or downtime. It is not suitable during pregnancy, with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, with metal implants in the area, or with an active skin infection there. If you are having cancer treatment or have had injectables in the same area recently, we discuss it at consultation.
For mild to moderate looseness, often yes. Where there is a lot of excess skin, radiofrequency will not do enough on its own, and we will tell you that and explain the other options, including a surgical opinion.
Warmth, redness and slight swelling for a few hours are expected. Tenderness or temporary blotchiness are less common. Blistering or a burn is rare, and the temperature control is there to reduce that risk.
Most people find it comfortable, even relaxing. It feels warm, and we adjust the temperature if it becomes too much.
None. Skin may look a little flushed for an hour or two, and you can return to work, exercise and make-up the same day.
Usually four to six for the face, one to two weeks apart. Body areas may need six to eight. Many people then have a maintenance session every three to six months.
Most people notice their skin feels firmer part way through the course. The fuller result develops around three months after the last session, as new collagen forms.
Yes. The neck is one of the most common areas we treat, often together with the jawline.
Sectum is available at Aarva on Midland Drive, Royal Sutton Coldfield, a short drive from Four Oaks, Walmley, Erdington, Lichfield, Tamworth and north Birmingham. Parking is available nearby.
Sectum at Aarva is priced individually, with course pricing where it helps. You receive the full price in writing at your consultation before you commit. Sectum also earns points in the Aarva Circle.
Come With the Problem, Not the Treatment
