Dermal Fillers at AARVA
Restored support to the cheeks, temples, jawline and chin, with a result that still looks like you
About Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are gels made from hyaluronic acid, a sugar found naturally in the skin, placed beneath the skin to restore support where the face has lost it. With age, the fat pads and bone that hold up the face gradually thin, which can flatten the cheeks, hollow the temples and soften the jaw and chin. Fillers can replace some of that lost volume, define the jawline and chin and, in carefully chosen cases, soften hollows under the eyes. Results are temporary, usually lasting from around six months to over a year depending on the product and area, and the filler can usually be dissolved if needed.
Fillers at Aarva are planned by Dr Shivani Malhotra, a practising GP who leads our skin and regenerative medicine, and delivered in our practice on Midland Drive, Royal Sutton Coldfield. Filler sits close to blood vessels, so we plan it around the anatomy of your face rather than a menu of areas, and we use it to restore rather than to change who you are. You leave your consultation with a written treatment plan with clear pricing.
“I think of filler as replacing support that has gone, not adding something new. If a face looks tired, the answer is rarely more volume in one place.”
Is Dermal Filler Right for You?
Likely a good fit if you:
- have flattened cheeks, hollow temples, or a jawline or chin that has lost definition
- want a subtle change that still looks like you
- are happy to maintain the result over time
Probably not the right first step if you:
- would prefer a gradual change built over months, where Neauvia Stimulate may suit you better
- mainly have loose skin rather than lost volume, where AI Endolaser or Sectum Radiofrequency may do more
- are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an active skin infection or cold sore
Not sure which side you are on? That is exactly what the consultation is for.

From First Conversation to Follow-Up
Four simple steps, with the same doctor-led care from your first message to your follow-up.
Tell us what is bothering you
Request an appointment online or phone us. Tell us what has changed in your face, or wait until you are in the room.
See a doctor from the start
A GP takes your history, examines your face from every angle and explains what filler can and cannot do for you, then gives you a written treatment plan with clear pricing.
Your treatment
Your skin is cleansed and numbed, and filler is placed in small amounts with a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula, checking as we go. It takes 30 to 60 minutes, and most fillers contain a local anaesthetic to keep it comfortable.
We follow you up
You get written aftercare and a direct contact if anything worries you. At two weeks, once swelling has settled, we review you and add a little more only if it is needed.
Why a Doctor Plans Your Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers at Aarva are planned by Dr Shivani Malhotra, GP, who leads skin and regenerative medicine. Every treatment is planned and overseen by a doctor.
The most serious risk with any filler is that it blocks a blood vessel, known as vascular occlusion. It is rare, but it can damage the skin and, very rarely, affect eyesight. We plan every treatment around where the blood vessels run, use a blunt cannula in higher-risk areas where suitable, inject slowly and in small amounts, and watch the skin closely throughout. Everyone who injects is trained to recognise the early signs, emergency medicines are kept on site, and hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved quickly if needed.
Filler is only one way to restore the face. Neauvia Stimulate works more gradually by prompting your own collagen, Profhilo improves skin quality rather than shape, and AI Endolaser tightens rather than fills. Many plans use more than one, in the right order.

Questions Patients Ask About Dermal Fillers
Cannot see your question? Our doctors are happy to talk it through at your consultation.
Hyaluronic acid filler is a gel that sits beneath the skin, holding water and giving support where the face has lost it. Firmer gels are placed deeper, close to the bone, to lift and shape. Softer gels are used where the skin is thinner. Over time, the body breaks the filler down naturally.
The cheeks, temples, jawline and chin, where lost volume or definition changes the shape of the face, and some folds, such as the lines from the nose to the mouth. Lips can be treated where appropriate. Hollows under the eyes need particular care.
Sometimes, but we are cautious. The skin under the eyes is thin, and filler there can look puffy or bluish if it is used in the wrong person or in too large an amount. It suits some people with a true hollow and good skin quality. Dark circles from pigment, puffiness or loose skin usually need something else, and we will tell you if filler is not the right choice.
It suits many adults who want to restore shape or support. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active skin infection or cold sore in the area, or with a known allergy to its ingredients. If you have an autoimmune condition, take medicines that thin the blood, or have had filler before, we discuss it at consultation.
Swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising are common and usually settle within one to two weeks. Less commonly, there can be lumps, unevenness, infection or swelling that appears weeks or months later. The most serious risk is a blocked blood vessel, which is rare but needs treatment straight away. Before you sign a consent form, we talk through each of these with you.
We plan around the anatomy of your face, choose a cannula or needle for each area, inject slowly and in small amounts, and watch your skin throughout. Because we check the skin as we go, a problem is usually picked up early, and hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved. If you notice increasing pain, colour change or pale patches after treatment, you call us straight away and a doctor sees you.
Numbing cream is used where helpful, and most fillers contain a local anaesthetic, so the area gets numb as treatment goes on. Expect some pressure and a little stinging, particularly at the start.
Most people go back to work the same or the next day. Swelling and bruising can last a few days, and sometimes up to two weeks, so avoid treatment just before an important event. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for a day or two.
Usually one, with a review at around two weeks and a small top-up if needed. We often build volume across two visits rather than all at once, which tends to give a more natural result.
You see a change straight away, although swelling can hide the true result for up to two weeks. Depending on the product and the area, filler usually lasts from around six months to over a year, and many people maintain it with a smaller top-up.
You can have dermal fillers at our practice on Midland Drive, Royal Sutton Coldfield. Patients come to us from Four Oaks, Walmley, Erdington, Lichfield, Tamworth and north Birmingham. Parking is available nearby.
The price of dermal fillers at Aarva is set at your consultation. It depends on the areas treated and the amount of filler needed, and you receive it in writing before you commit to anything.
Come With the Problem, Not the Treatment
Filler may or may not be the answer, and you do not have to decide that before you come. Tell a doctor what has changed in your face, and you will leave knowing whether it is volume, skin or structure, and what is worth doing about it.
