We Built the Practice We Could Not Find
Aarva started with a frustration none of us could let go of.
The Medicine Was Never the Problem
Between us we have spent our careers in NHS general practice, and the same thing kept happening. A patient with something that needed half an hour got ten minutes. A woman in her forties was told that exhaustion and a changed body were simply her age. Someone who wanted to invest properly in their health was sent to a skin place, a hormone place and a scan place, none of which spoke to each other, and none of which had ever seen her notes.
The medicine was never the problem. The time was, and so were the handovers between one place and the next, where the whole picture always seemed to go missing.
So we built somewhere with both. General practice, regenerative medicine, women’s health and skin in one building, run by doctors who consult, diagnose, investigate and treat rather than referring you onward. One record follows you across all of it, so the doctor treating your skin can see your bloods, and the doctor reading your bloods knows what your skin has been doing.
Aarva
ah-r-va · noun
Sanskrit-derived. Carries the sense of vigour, vitality and energy. It is what we are here to protect, and where we can, to restore.
Two Founders, Still Practising
Aarva was founded by Dr Saptarshi Saha, a GP since 2007 and Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners, and Dr Shivani Malhotra, a GP who has built her practice around regenerative medicine and skin. Both continue to practise, which matters: the judgement you get here is the judgement of doctors who still see patients every week.
They are joined by Dr Purti Choudhary, a GP of fifteen years and a Chief Medical Officer in NHS general practice, who leads the women’s health work alongside Shivani.
How We Practise
Ethical, evidence-based medicine is the foundation of how we work. Outcomes guide every decision we make, and it is the reason people come back.
- We tell you honestly what a treatment can achieve, and when it is not needed yet.
- We recommend the fewest steps that will get you the result you want.
- Every treatment plan is written down, with clear pricing, before you decide.
- If we cannot help, we will say so and tell you who can.
The Building
Two floors on Midland Drive, Sutton Coldfield. Consulting rooms, treatment rooms and a diagnostics suite, fitted out to Care Quality Commission standards and designed to feel like somewhere you would happily spend an hour.
Aarva is in the process of registering with the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of health and care in England. Our doctors are registered with the General Medical Council and hold current licences to practise. Full details, including our complaints procedure and how we handle complications, are on our safety and standards page.
Why Patients Choose Aarva
Doctor-led from the first appointment
Every consultation is with a doctor, and every plan is written by a practising GP.
GPs still in practice
Our doctors, Dr Saptarshi Saha, Dr Purti Choudhary and Dr Shivani Malhotra, are GMC-registered GPs who still work in general practice.
One medical record
GP, skin and women’s health care sit on one record, so nothing gets lost between appointments.
It starts with a consultation
A doctor assesses you properly, explains your options and agrees a clear plan with you, with pricing set out upfront, so every step that follows is the right one.
Come With the Problem, Not the Treatment
You do not need to know what you need. Tell us what is bothering you, and a doctor will take it from there.
