What to Expect at Your First Appointment
Your first appointment is time with a doctor, set aside for you. Here is exactly how it works, from booking to aftercare.
Time With a Doctor, From the Start
Every first appointment is a consultation with a doctor. For a GP or women’s health appointment, you book a set-price appointment and your plan is made with the doctor there and then. For skin and regenerative treatments, you leave with a written treatment plan and clear pricing, and you choose when to take the next step.
From Booking to Aftercare
Five steps, with the same doctor-led care from your first message to your follow-up.
Before you come
Request an appointment online or by phone. For a GP appointment you choose 15 or 30 minutes, and you do not need a GP referral. Bring any recent test results, a list of anything you take, and a note of what you want to raise if it helps. If it is something intimate or you have never said it out loud, you can mention it when you book, or save it for the room.
The consultation
We start with you: what you think is going on, what is worrying you, and what you are hoping for. If that is not realistic, we will tell you, and tell you what is. Then we examine, and explain what we think.
If we need to look further
Bloods, swabs and skin assessments are done here. If you need imaging, we refer you to the right provider and the results come back to us. Results are emailed to you and are visible in your medical notes, and we will advise you if a follow-up is needed. If you need a specialist we do not have, we refer you with a clear letter.
Your plan
For GP and women’s health appointments, your plan is agreed with the doctor in the appointment. For skin and regenerative treatments, you get a written treatment plan with clear pricing: what we found, what we suggest, the risks, and what we do not think you need. You can book on the day or take it away to think about.
Afterwards
If you have had treatment, you get aftercare in writing and a named person to call. If something is not going the way we expected, we want to hear about it early.
What You Leave With
Every consultation ends with something you can use.
- A clear explanation of what is going on, and why.
- A clear plan, and for treatments a written plan with clear pricing.
- The risks and what to expect, set out in writing.
- A named team to call with any questions.
Why Patients Choose Aarva
Doctor-led from the first appointment
Every consultation is with a doctor, and every plan is written by a practising GP.
GPs still in practice
Our doctors, Dr Saptarshi Saha, Dr Purti Choudhary and Dr Shivani Malhotra, are GMC-registered GPs who still work in general practice.
One medical record
GP, skin and women’s health care sit on one record, so nothing gets lost between appointments.
It starts with a consultation
A doctor assesses you properly, explains your options and gives you a written treatment plan with clear pricing, so every step that follows is the right one.
Come With the Problem, Not the Treatment
You do not need to know what you need. Tell us what is bothering you, and a doctor will take it from there.
