Radiofrequency Vaginal Rejuvenation at AARVA
An honest assessment of dryness or laxity first, with proven care in place before any device
About Radiofrequency Vaginal Rejuvenation
Radiofrequency Vaginal Rejuvenation uses an intimate radiofrequency handpiece to deliver gentle, temperature-controlled radiofrequency warmth to the vaginal walls and vulva. The warmth is intended to encourage new collagen and blood flow in the tissues, and some women report less vaginal dryness, more comfort during sex and a firmer feel where there is mild vaginal laxity. It can be combined with a hyaluronic acid gel for the vulval tissues. The evidence for energy-based vaginal treatments is still limited, and we say so plainly.
Radiofrequency Vaginal Rejuvenation at Aarva is planned by Dr Shivani Malhotra, a practising GP who leads our skin, regenerative medicine and women’s health, and delivered in a private room in our practice on Midland Drive, Royal Sutton Coldfield, with a chaperone offered. It sits within our women’s health service, on the same medical record as your GP and menopause care, so a doctor looks at the whole picture first: pelvic floor strength, hormones, bladder symptoms and any sign of prolapse. You leave your consultation with a written treatment plan with clear pricing.
“Many women I see have waited years to mention this. My job is to make that conversation easy and to explain the options honestly, including when treatment is not the answer.”
Is Radiofrequency Vaginal Rejuvenation Right for You?
Likely a good fit if you:
- have vaginal dryness or discomfort that has not settled with moisturisers and, where appropriate, local hormone treatment
- have mild vaginal laxity and have already worked on your pelvic floor, ideally with a specialist physiotherapist
- want a non-surgical option and are comfortable that the evidence is still limited
Probably not the right first step if you:
- have not yet tried pelvic floor physiotherapy, moisturisers or local hormone treatment, which help many women on their own
- have heaviness, dragging or a bulge that could be prolapse, which needs proper assessment rather than a device
- are pregnant, have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, have an active infection, or have unexplained bleeding
Not sure which side you are on? That is exactly what the consultation is for.

From First Conversation to Follow-Up
Four simple steps, with the same doctor-led care from your first message to your follow-up.
Tell us what is bothering you
Request an appointment online or get in touch. You can describe it in a sentence, or save it for the room. Doctors hear about these symptoms every day, so there is no need to feel awkward.
See a doctor from the start
A GP takes your history, including pregnancies, menopause, bladder symptoms and medicines, and with your consent examines you, with a chaperone offered. We check for prolapse and infection, and explain what radiofrequency can and cannot do for you. You leave with a written treatment plan with clear pricing.
Your treatment
A slim, single-use intimate handpiece is gently inserted and moved slowly while it warms the tissues, with the temperature measured throughout. Most women feel warmth rather than pain, and numbing is not usually needed.
We follow you up
Written aftercare and a named person to call. We review you at six to eight weeks and again at the end of your course, and keep your first-line care going alongside.
Why a Doctor Plans Your Radiofrequency Vaginal Rejuvenation
Radiofrequency Vaginal Rejuvenation at Aarva is planned by Dr Shivani Malhotra, GP, who leads our women’s health, skin and regenerative medicine. Every treatment is planned and overseen by a doctor.
We are honest about the evidence. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is the first step for laxity, and vaginal moisturisers, lubricants and local hormone treatment are the first step for dryness, because they are proven to help. Studies of radiofrequency for vaginal symptoms are small and short, and long-term results are not known. The US Food and Drug Administration has warned about energy-based devices marketed for vaginal rejuvenation, and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists advises that laser for menopause symptoms should only be used within research. The evidence for radiofrequency is no stronger. We only suggest radiofrequency treatment when we think it is reasonable for you, and never in place of proven care.
Some plans combine radiofrequency treatment with hyaluronic acid for the vulval tissues. Others use laser vaginal rejuvenation instead, or stay with first-line care through our women’s health service.

Questions Patients Ask About Radiofrequency Vaginal Rejuvenation
Cannot see your question? Our doctors are happy to talk it through at your consultation.
The intimate handpiece delivers bipolar radiofrequency, so the energy passes between two points on the handpiece rather than through the body. It gently warms the vaginal wall and vulva to a set temperature, measured by a sensor in the handpiece. The warmth is intended to encourage new collagen and blood flow, which may help moisture and firmness over the following weeks.
It is mainly used for vaginal dryness and discomfort linked to menopause, and for mild vaginal laxity after childbirth or with age. Some women also report more comfort during sex. It is not a treatment for prolapse, and its effect on bladder leaking is uncertain.
It may suit women whose symptoms continue despite first-line care, or who cannot use or prefer not to use local hormone treatment. It is not suitable during pregnancy, with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, with an active infection, or with unexplained bleeding. If you have had cancer treatment, pelvic radiotherapy or a recent birth, we discuss timing and suitability at consultation.
Some women report less dryness and a firmer feel, but studies are small, most follow women for months rather than years, and good comparisons with standard care are lacking. After examining you, we tell you plainly whether we think it is worth trying, and we will say so if we think it is not.
Warmth, mild redness, slight discharge or light spotting for a day or two are expected. Tenderness, irritation or a urine infection can happen but are less common. Burns and lasting pain are rare, and the temperature control in the handpiece is there to reduce that risk. We go through every risk with you before you consent.
You have a private room, and a chaperone if you would like one. A slim single-use handpiece is gently inserted and moved slowly inside the vagina, and the outer area can also be treated. The session usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes, and you go home the same day with written aftercare.
Most women find it comfortable. It feels like gentle warmth, and we adjust the temperature if it becomes too much.
Very little. You can usually go back to work and your normal day straight afterwards. We usually advise a short break from sex, tampons and swimming afterwards, and your aftercare sheet sets out how long.
Usually a short course of sessions spaced out over a few weeks, followed by a review. Benefits, where they happen, may not last, and some women return for a single top-up session later on. Your written plan sets this out before you start.
Some women notice a change part way through the course. Any fuller effect builds over the weeks after the last session, and not every woman notices a difference.
Each aims to warm the vaginal tissues and prompt collagen renewal, one with radiofrequency and the other with laser light. There is not yet good long-term evidence for either, and part of your consultation is deciding whether one of them, or neither, is sensible for you.
Radiofrequency Vaginal Rejuvenation is available at Aarva on Midland Drive, Royal Sutton Coldfield, a short drive from Four Oaks, Walmley, Erdington, Lichfield, Tamworth and north Birmingham. Parking is available nearby.
Radiofrequency Vaginal Rejuvenation at Aarva is priced individually, with course pricing where it helps. Any hyaluronic acid treatment is priced separately. The full cost is in your written plan, and you decide in your own time. Intimate treatments may also earn points in the Aarva Circle.
Come With the Problem, Not the Treatment
You do not need to know whether radiofrequency is the answer. Tell a doctor what is bothering you, in private, and you will leave with an honest view of what will help, and what will not.
