Sunekos at AARVA
Smoother, better-hydrated skin under the eyes and across the face, with no change to your features
About Sunekos
Sunekos is an injectable skin treatment developed by the Italian company Professional Dietetics that combines hyaluronic acid with six amino acids, the building blocks the skin uses to make collagen and elastin. Rather than adding volume, it aims to improve the quality of the skin itself, which is why it is often chosen for the thin, delicate skin around the eyes. It is used for crepey under-eye skin and tired-looking eyes, fine lines and dry, dehydrated skin on the face and neck.
Every Sunekos course at Aarva is planned by Dr Shivani Malhotra, a practising GP who leads our skin and regenerative medicine, and treatment takes place at our practice on Midland Drive, Royal Sutton Coldfield. Tired-looking eyes can come from thin skin, lost volume, pigment, puffiness or allergies, and Sunekos only helps some of these, so a doctor works out which applies to you first. You leave your consultation with a written treatment plan with clear pricing for the whole course.
“The skin under the eyes is some of the thinnest on the body, so I take my time there. Sunekos suits people who want fresher eyes without looking different.”
Is Sunekos Right for You?
Likely a good fit if you:
- have thin, crepey or finely lined skin under the eyes
- have skin on the face or neck that looks dry, dull or tired
- want a natural improvement in skin quality over a short course
Probably not the right first step if you:
- have a deep hollow under the eye, where carefully placed dermal fillers may do more
- have true eye bags or puffiness, which skin boosters do not correct
- have dark circles from pigment, where medical-grade skincare may be the better place to start
Not sure which side you are on? That is exactly what the consultation is for.

From First Conversation to Follow-Up
Four simple steps, with the same doctor-led care from your first message to your follow-up.
Tell us what is bothering you
Request an appointment online or contact us. If it is your eyes that bother you, say so, or tell us when you come in.
See a doctor from the start
A GP takes your history, examines your skin in good light and explains what a course of Sunekos can realistically change. You go home with the plan and the cost of the course in writing.
Your treatment
Your skin is cleansed, numbed if you wish, and Sunekos is placed through small, shallow injections. It takes 20 to 30 minutes.
We follow you up
Aftercare is in writing, and you have a named person to ring. Sessions are usually one to three weeks apart, depending on the formulation, and we review your skin at each one against your starting photographs.
Why a Doctor Plans Your Sunekos
Sunekos at Aarva is planned by Dr Shivani Malhotra, GP, who leads skin and regenerative medicine. Every treatment is planned and overseen by a doctor.
The skin under the eyes is among the thinnest on the body, with small blood vessels close to the surface. Sunekos comes in more than one formulation, and we choose the one that suits the area, along with the depth and spacing of each injection. Because we are GPs, we also look for the medical side of tired eyes, such as eczema, hay fever, thyroid problems or low iron, and suggest a blood test where it makes sense.
Sunekos works well alongside polynucleotides for very thin skin under the eyes, Profhilo for the wider face and neck, and medical-grade skincare to protect the result. If a true hollow is the main problem, dermal fillers may be the better choice, and we will tell you which we would choose for you.

Questions Patients Ask About Sunekos
Cannot see your question? Our doctors are happy to talk it through at your consultation.
Sunekos combines hyaluronic acid, which draws water into the skin, with six amino acids: glycine, proline, lysine, leucine, valine and alanine. These are among the raw materials the skin uses to build collagen and elastin. The idea is to hydrate the skin and support its own repair, so the change comes gradually over a course rather than all at once.
Sunekos is used for crepey skin and fine lines under the eyes, dehydrated or dull skin on the face, fine lines around the mouth and early crepiness on the neck. It improves skin quality rather than adding volume, so it will not fill a deep hollow or lift loose skin.
It can help when the shadow comes from thin skin that lets the blood vessels beneath show through. It does little for dark circles caused by pigment, which respond better to skincare, or for shadows cast by a hollow or eye bags. A doctor can tell you which kind you have.
It suits many adults with thin, dry or finely lined skin who want a natural result. We avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding, over an active infection or cold sore, and in anyone allergic to its ingredients. Autoimmune conditions and blood-thinning medicines are not always a barrier, but we talk them through first.
Yes, in most cases. Because it is injected and involves no laser or heat, skin tone is seldom a concern. In darker skin a bruise can sometimes leave a temporary mark, which normally fades.
Expect small bumps, redness and a little swelling where the needle went in, usually gone within a day or two. Under the eyes, bruising is fairly common. Infection, lumps and reactions to the product are less common, and a blocked blood vessel, which needs urgent treatment, is very rare with any facial injection. All of this is explained before you consent.
The needle is very fine and the injections are shallow, so it feels like a run of quick stings. Numbing cream can be applied first if you would like it.
Very little for most people. A bruise under the eye is the main nuisance: it can take up to a week to clear, but make-up can usually go on after 24 hours. Skip hard exercise, saunas and facials for a day or two.
Usually four sessions, one to three weeks apart depending on the formulation used. Many people then come back for maintenance every few months, and the plan you take home spells this out.
Some people notice fresher skin after the first session. The fuller change builds across the course and for a few weeks after it, and often lasts several months before maintenance is needed.
Sunekos improves the quality of thin under-eye skin but does not add volume. Tear trough filler adds volume to a true hollow. Filler can make puffiness look worse in the wrong person, which is one reason we examine you carefully before suggesting either.
Sunekos is available at our Midland Drive practice in Royal Sutton Coldfield, handy for Four Oaks, Walmley, Erdington, Lichfield, Tamworth and north Birmingham. Parking is available nearby.
Sunekos at Aarva is priced individually, with course pricing where it helps. The final price depends on the areas treated and the number of sessions, and you receive it in writing at your consultation before you commit to anything.
Come With the Problem, Not the Treatment
You do not need to know whether Sunekos, filler or something else is the answer. Tell a doctor what is bothering you, and you will leave with an honest view of what will help, and what will not.
